Grade 10, 12 exam results out December 20

The Junior Secondary Certificate (Grade 10) and Namibia Senior Secondary Certificate (Grade 12) higher-level full-time and part-time results will be released on December 20. This was announced last week in a media statement issued by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Alfred Ilukena. “This year, 44 374 candidates comprising 34 096 full-time and 10 278 part-time candidates were registered for the JSC examination at 636 junior secondary schools and 163 part-time tuition centres,” he explained. Ilukena said the number of markers who were involved in the marking of the Grade 10 answer scripts this year was fewer than last year. A total of 11 660 of the 54 521 full-time NSSC higher-level candidates wrote one or more higher-level subjects. Progress made The number of higher-level candidates increased by 1 022 or 9.6%, compared to last year. A total of 211 markers were involved in marking Grade 12 higher-level subjects. “The ministry is also pleased to inform the candidates that the Grade 12 ordinary-level results will be released not later than 18 January 2014. Tremendous progress has been made by the Directorate of National Examinations and Assessment (DNEA) to bring the release of the Grade 12 ordinary- level results as near as possible to the Grade 10 and Grade 12 higher-level results,” Ilukena stated. The results will be available on the website of the DNEA at www.dnea.gov.na; the website of the Ministry of Education (www.moe.gov.na); and also be accessible via short message services (SMS). To obtain their results via SMS, candidates should send a message with the name of the examination, followed by the surname and first name of the candidate (for example JSC Kalomoh Fennie, or NSSCH Kaperu Theo) to 2929 or 99099. The message can also just contain the candidate’s full examination number (JSC 101E25002 or NSSCH 10HE250025). They will then receive an SMS containing their results. Both the websites and SMS services will become active on Friday, 20 December at midnight. “All candidates who were registered for the 2013 national examinations are reminded to have their candidate numbers nearby in order to be able to access their results,” Ilukena said. Regional education offices will also provide a service during office hours by supplying the results from the broadsheets to candidates and relatives who personally visit or phone the offices.
