A 14-year-old girl from the Ondiyala location in the Ondangwa Region has been raped by her uncle since last September.
According to the police, the matter was only reported last Thursday and the suspect has not been arrested yet.
It is alleged that the man, who is married to the girl's aunt, used to call her into his room and rape her whenever her aunt was away.
Women unsafe
In another incident last Saturday, a 27-year-old woman was apparently raped by an unknown man in the Ohangwena Region while on her way home from a local bar.
The incident took place at Onhuno and it is alleged that the man took out a panga and demanded the victim to surrender her valuable items.
He then told her to remove her clothes and lay on the ground where he raped her. The suspect has not been arrested.
In a separate incident on Saturday at the Tuhingireni location in the Kavango East Region, a 36-year-old man allegedly broke into his 28-year-old ex-girlfriend's home while she was asleep, threatened to kill her and raped her.
He apparently also threatened to kill anyone who entered the room if she screamed. The suspect has been arrested.
In the crossfire
At Bethanie, a 79-year-old man was accidently shot on Saturday while a father and son living next door were struggling over a firearm.
According to the police, the incident occurred in the Schellendorf location and allegedly a 62-year-old man and his 35-year-old son were arguing when the son drew a knife.
The father apparently then took out a firearm and they wrestled for the firearm. During the scuffle, a shot went off which struck their neighbour who was sitting in the yard.
The victim was treated in hospital and is reported to be in a stable condition.
No arrests have been made yet but the firearm was confiscated.
Watery death
Three drownings were also reported over the weekend including a member of the National Defence Force stationed at the Suiderhof Military Base in Windhoek.
The body of 50-year-old Abraham Kambundu Kashihakumwa was discovered floating in the water at the Gammams Bridge in the Wanaheda area on Sunday.
The deceased was reported missing on Sunday.
In another incident, 35-year-old Shigwedha Silas Ndeilenga drowned at the Olunghono village at Oshikango on Friday in a water pond while catching fish. His body has been retrieved.
It was also reported that a 14-month-old baby boy, Andreas Hinahonde Amakali, drowned in a bucket of traditional brew (tombo) at the Onanyalala village in Onaanda on Saturday.
