Drive to trace unenrolled beneficiaries goes regional

A drive by the Government Institutions Pension Fund (GIPF) to trace an approximate 12 000 non-active members and beneficiaries, will continue in earnest this week at the Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair 2016.
GIPF manager for marketing services Amos Kambonde last week urged Fund members expectant to attend the trade fair, to complete their third and final yearly verification process to guarantee their continued income into the next year.
“When talking about annuitants, we are referring to the GIPF non-active members who receive monthly income from the Fund. This includes children, retired members, disabled and spouses of deceased members,” Kambonde said.
In addition, the fund recently published an insert which was distributed countrywide via local newspapers, listing the names of all currently unenrolled annuitants on its database.
“This year the GIPF will focus on tracing the unenrolled annuitants at the trade fair in order for our members to receive their benefits,” Kambonde said.
“To verify, annuitants are encouraged to bring along their GIPF cards (to any) GIPF office, or Namport office or agency,” he said, noting that annuitants younger than 12 years old may only be verified at GIPF offices.
These regional offices are located in Oshakati, Ondangwa, Rundu, Katima Mulilo, Gobabis, Keetmanshoop, Swakopmund, Otjiwarongo and Windhoek.
“It is important to get enrolled or get verified within the allocated time frame to guarantee your income. If you do not verify yourself, your income will be suspended.”
Verification of GIPF annuitants is done three times a year, between November and February, then between March and June, and finally between July and October.
“We are encouraging our members and beneficiaries to understand the rules of the fund and how they are applied and what their obligations are in totality,” Kambonde said.
“We are therefore inviting all our members to join us in Ongwediva between 26 August to 3 September 2016. “
Besides enrolling annuitants at the show, the Fund also intends to offer its standard services, including pension benefit payouts, printing of statements, claims processes, updating members’ information and receiving outstanding documents.
