Five men commit suicide

A dark cloud hangs over the Ohangwena Region this month after five men committed suicide in separate incidents.

Two businessmen and a school principal are among the five people who committed suicide in the Ohangwena Region this month.

Three of the deceased are reported to have committed suicide by shooting themselves, while the other two reportedly hanged themselves.

According to a police report, an Ohangwena-based businessman in the mini market business, Moses Ndaoya (50), shot himself with a pistol in the face and died on the spot at Ondangwa on 4 March. He did not leave suicide note.

Another businessman, Jesaya Nepongo Sheetekela (37), who owned a driving school, was found dead in his bedroom at Atusheni village at Eenhana. He is believed to have shot himself in the head with a 6mm Ruger pistol on 9 March.

The firearm reportedly belonged to him. He did not leave a suicide note. On 17 March, Gabriel Tuhafeni Gabriel (21) committed suicide at Enyana village in the Okongo area by shooting himself in the abdomen with a shotgun belonging to his father. Police reported that Gabriel entered his father's room and took a firearm and ammunition, went to his room and shot himself.



No note

Onambaladi school principal Philipus Sheehama (38) committed suicide by hanging himself in his bedroom on 15 March.

He did not leave a note. Furthermore, Reinhold Kamandjedi hanged himself in his bedroom on 18 March at Odjaambwa village in Epembe area.

Ohangwena police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Kaume Itumba, urged people to seek help instead of committing suicide.
