Undefeated former world champion Harry 'Terminator' Simon will share the stage with his son on the 24 November at the Ramatex complex as part of the 'Second Change' boxing tourney hosted by HS Onkugo Promotions.
Simon Sr will fight Tanzanian Kaminja Shabani, whereas his son Harry Simon Jr's opponent is still to be announced.
On the same night Vikapita Merero will also face Mussa Ajibu from Swaziland.
Simon Sr and Merero have been calling each other out for years, but their promise to fight each other never saw the light of day.
Now they will face different opponents on the same night.
Simon Sr has fought 30 undefeated fights, while his opponent Shabani has 21 fights, 12 wins, eight losses and one draw under his belt.
Merero has fought 35 times, recording 28 wins, seven losses and no draws, whereas his opponent has 44 fights, 28 wins, 11 losses and five draws under his belt.
The Namibia Boxing and Wrestling Control Board has sanctioned the boxing tournament, according to a document seen by Sport Wrap.
The board is mandated to regulate, control and exercise general supervision over professional boxing at tournaments in Namibia.
“In order for the boxing control board to fulfil this mandate Act 11 of 1980 and regulations must be adhered to for overall professional boxing tournaments that occur, hence the act which provides promoters with detailed processes to follow when promoting tournaments.
“This letter serves to inform that the board has sanctioned the abovementioned boxing tournament as scheduled and all requirements needed to host a tournament were met,” the letter reads.
General tickets cost N$100, while VIP tickets are selling for N$300. Tickets are available at Computicket and Shoprite and Checkers stores countrywide.
Gates will open at 16:00, with the first fight to start at 18:00.
