The Itandua Benjamin Kasuto Namibia Rural Sport Development Federation (NRSDF) All Stars tournament is set for this weekend at the Khomasdal Stadium.

The competition will pit rural teams from different Reserves against each other in netball and football.

It will be the second All Stars tournament in two weeks, following the Federation tournament which took place a fortnight ago.

Honouring Kasuto

Coleca Hange of the NRSDF said that everything is in place and they expect the tournament to be a success.

“We are going to make sure that all coronavirus pandemic regulations are in place.

“This is a farewell tournament in honour of our former president Itandua Benjamin Kasuto, who bowed out last year.

“We expect all the teams to be in shape and to provide us with top netball and football displays,” Hange said.

Otjinene, Okondjatu, Aminuis, Otjombinde, Sesfontein, Opuwo, Kalahari, Okakarara, Okotjituuo and Otjimbingwe will all be represented in the netball category.

The football teams will hail from Kalahari, Otjombinde, Aminuis, Otjinene, Sesfontein, Okondjatu, Otjimbingwe, Opuwo, Okotjituuo and Okakarara.

The first teams to battle it out in the opening stages in the netball category will be Okondjatu against Otjinene, followed by Aminuis against Opuwo on Saturday morning.

Okotjituuo faces Otjimbingwe in the quarterfinal of the competition after both teams received a free draw to advance to the next stage without throwing a ball.

Sesfontein and Okakarara are in a similar situation and will play their quarterfinal match on the same day.
