New Zealand and Namibia are set to cross swords for the first time in match number 36 of the ongoing T20 Cricket World Cup today at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in Sharjah.

Namibia have shown fighting spirit, but need something enormous and special to get into the top two. In their previous game, Pakistan beat them by 45 runs.

Their opponents, currently placed third in the points table in Group 2, need a win in this game to take them to the second spot and strengthen their chances of qualifying for the semi-final.

In addition, as the Eagles tie their shoelaces to face New Zealand, the team can also be proud of all-rounder David Wiese’s nomination for the ICC player of the month for October.

Wiese is having a spectacular World Cup so far.

He played eight T20Is where he scored a total of 162 runs with a strike rate of 132.78 and took seven wickets with an economy rate of 7.23.

His match-winning performance helped Namibia qualify for the Super 12s stage of the tournament where he scored a 66 not-out against the Netherlands and 28 not-out against Ireland, while also contributing with the ball. He is contending against Shakib Al Hasan of Bangladesh and Asif Ali of Pakistan.

Fans around the world can vote to decide the winners, which will be announced next week. Fans registered on icc-cricket.com/awards are invited to cast their votes for their favourite in both categories.
