Dordabis conforms to lockdown
Shebeens have been closed and houses selling traditional beer are no longer in operation.

Dordabis residents are conforming to President Hage Geingob's lockdown rules, local police station commander, Warrant Officer Tate Uushona, says.
Lockdowns were imposed in Khomas and Erongo late last month due to the national coronavirus state of emergency.
“People are adhering to the lockdown rules. The shebeens have been closed and those houses selling traditional beer are no longer in operation,” Uushona said. The community, situated about 80 kilometres east of Windhoek, is also adequately informed about the dangers associated with the coronavirus, he said.
“You hardly find people gathered,” Uushona added.
There have, however, been incidences of people attempting to sneak into Khomas from Hardap via Hochanas near Kalkrand, and Omaheke via Leonardville. We took note of those routes people are using and we have established roadblocks as well as active patrols,” Uushona said. According to him, two people were fined for trying to sneak into Khomas after they were initially turned back at the Seeis checkpoint, which serves as a temporary Khomas border.
Community development activist Roswitha Arie admitted it was a challenge to inform villagers of the new measures in the beginning. Access to water has also been improved, she said.
“Most of the houses now have tippy-taps. We can confirm that water access has also been opened for the residents to use for the period of the lockdown. For the next six months, the water will be open,” Arie said.
