Determined Warriors off to Congo
NAMIBIA FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION
Bobby Samaria has called on his players to give their all in the final two games of the 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers against Congo and Togo.
Namibia will visit Congo on 11 November and then host Togo in Soweto, South Africa, on 15 November to conclude the Group H action.
Samaria said finishing second behind group winners Senegal is now a priority.
"We were never favourites in this group but we have rattled some features and shown character and the willingness to fight on. It's over for the World Cup race, but we need to battle for second place in this tough group.
“It will still count for so much if we can manage that, given the opponents we faced. We have our own special circumstances and we can surely raise above that. My players have to give their all", he said.
Gaining experience
In his initial 29-man squad, Samaria has included Mbemutjiua Mata from Young African as well as Mighty Gunners right back Riddick Gariseb.
" We are looking at the future and increasing our pool of players ahead of new projects and so we need to expose these players already to the national team set-up as well,” the coach said.
The Brave Warriors will be departing for Congo over the weekend before proceeding to South Africa for the match against Togo. The foreign-based players will join the team in Congo.
The local-based players are:
Goalkeepers: Calvin Spiegel and Mbemutjiua Mata.
Defenders: Ivan Kamberipa, Larry Horaeb, Riddick Gariseb, Aprocius Petrus, Charles Hambira and Immanuel Heita.
Midfielders: Dynamo Fredericks, Alfeus Handura, Absalom Iimbondi, Wesley Katjiteo, Marcel Papama, Prins Tjiueza and Obrey Amseb.
