LIMBA MUPETAMI – The annual Debmarine Namibia Netball (NN) Pent Series starts today in Windhoek.

The re-scheduled competition will see six countries contesting for the cup: host Namibia, Kenya, Malawi, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

The five-day championship will be held at the Israel Patrick Iyambo Police College in Olympia.

It is hoped that the Pent Series, organised by NN with sponsorship from DebMarine Namibia, will help the Namibian team to improve its position both in Africa and globally (ranked 24th).

The first match of the day will see Namibia taking on Kenya at 12:00. The second match will be between Uganda and Zambia at 14:00 and the last match of the day will be between Malawi and Zimbabwe at 16:00.

The head coach of Namibia, Julene Meyers, said the team is excited and motivated.

“We have completed everything in terms of systems, technical work, set up play, analyses and mental work.

“It’s the first chance in a long time the players get to play at home in front of a crowd, with their fans and family there to support them. It’s going to be a tough competition but we look forward to it,” she said.
