Chan fixtures announced
A week after the 2020 African Nations Championship (Chan) draw took place, the fixtures have been announced, with Namibia taking on Guinea, Tanzania and Zambia in Group D.
The Brave Warriors will start their campaign with a clash against Guinea on 7 April at the Limbe Stadium in Cameroon at 20:00 in the competition reserved for locally-based players.
The Warriors' second match will be against Tanzania on 11 April at the same venue. They will finish off the group with a clash against Zambia on 15 April, also at 20:00 at the Limbe Stadium.
If they win the group, the Warriors, coached by interim head Bobby Samaria, will take on the Group C runners-up, which could be Morocco, Togo, Rwanda or Burundi.
If they finish second in Group D, the Warriors will face the Group C winners, with the quarter-final match scheduled for 18 April.
Samaria is preparing a training squad of 30 players who will be in camp until 21 March. From this group, only 23 will make the final cut.
Guinea is the best ranked country in Group D in 74th spot, followed by Zambia ranked 88th. Namibia is in third with a 117th ranking, with Tanzania, ranked 134th, in fourth.
The Namibian training squad is as follows:
Goalkeepers: Kamaiyanda Ndisiro, Ratanda Mbazuvara, Calvin Spiegel, Charles Uirab and Immanuel Immanuel.
Defenders: Vitapi Ngaruka, Emilio Martin, Ivan Kamberipa, Pat-Nevin Uanivi, Rehabeam Mbango, Aprocius Petrus, Gregory Auchumeb, Larry Horaeb, Treasure Kauapirura, Johannes Mutunga and Erastus Ikeinge.
Midfielders: Dynamo Fredericks, Wendell Rudath, Obrey Amseb, Gustav lsaack, Llewellyn Stanley, Absalom Iimbondi, Immanuel Heita, Marcel Papama, McCartney Naweseb and Brendon Neibeb.
Forwards: Elmo Kambindu, Panduleni Nekundi, Isaskar Gurirab, Mapenzi Muwanei and Monis Omseb.
