Young swimming sensation Mikah Burger broke the Namibian 100 m butterfly record last weekend at the Stellenbosch Grand Prix swim meet.

The young swimmer recorded a time of 58.21 seconds and with it achieved junior world championship qualifying time. He also managed to achieve personal best times in the 50 m butterfly and the 200 m individual medley. He said he felt confident before the event. “In preparation for the meet, I trained with Dean Pryce. The training was interesting and not quite what I expected. He is an amazing coach and it has been an honour to train with him for the last few days,” said the swimmer, who last swam competitively last year.“This was an amazing opportunity to measure improvement and work towards points in my style and improve my overall performance,” he added.
