Because jazz, funk and soul
Suzy and a few friends of hers Black Velvet and Slickartie who are soul blue artists have always seen each other play around town but we have never done so together and we thought we could do so now. That’s what is happening this Saturday at the warehouse. “We have a story to tell and we would like to share it through honest and true music. We don’t just play any song, we feel the history behind each song and that’s how the rend results are positive and good,” said Suzy Eises.
The night is separated into different sets whereby the first one Suzy Eises and Black Velvet will perform a couple of songs then Black Velvet will perform some of his original tunes but still feature with other artists on songs. Suzy will then get on and play some jazz songs with her saxophone. “It is going to be really special and sweet as I have a live band that I play with and they too will perform with me on Saturday,” said Suzy. The second half features Slickartie who hails from Zimbabwe and he is also quite prominent. Suzy said most of the songs that will be performed on Saturday are covers that have been requested by many. “The one that’s in demand is the song by Drake Hotline bling. The crowds love that and we will definitely play it too,” she said.
Suzy said she’s currently working on her album which will drop this year that she promised her fans and is going well thus far. “I have three songs out of eight that are complete. There are personal gigs that I take on too so, please do check on my Facebook page to find out where I am. I could be near you,” she said. She encouraged those that want to pursue a career in music with instruments to have patients and drive. “It takes a lot of time to rehearse and make it perfect so just believe in yourself,” she said.
The show is for everyone and tickets are available from the warehouse, events.com and the biltong shop at the Maerua mall for N$80 and N$100 at the door.
