Joslin Kamatuka, who can also play as a winger, signed a three-year contract with Baroka on Friday.
The 29-year-old Kamatuka was a free agent and was thus allowed to join any team of his choice. Last season he played 24 matches for GladAfrica Championship side Cape Umoya United in all competitions and scored seven times.
Kamatuka joins another Namibian, Ananias Gebhardt, who is also signed to the club.
“I've settled in pretty well with the team, the players and staff welcomed me well. Also, with Ananias here, he makes me feel like I'm home, it's always good to have a fellow countryman alongside you in a foreign country,” Kamatuka said.
He also joins the likes of Mamelodi Sundowns Peter Shalulile and Orlando Pirates Deon Hotto as well as Chippa United's Riaan Hanamub and Swallows Virgil Vries among the Namibia stars playing in the DStv Premiership.
Blessing in disguise
He added that during these unprecedented times of Covid-19, getting a contract is blessing, “because teams have been cutting budgets as well as the number of players. What I'm bringing to the team is my goal scoring abilities, my energy, my speed and Namibian flair.”
The Namibian will further use this chance on club level to help bolster the Namibian national team, of which he has nine caps.
