An academic journeyman
Mbandeuru Muhenje is a newly appointed incorporated electrical engineer at Lithon Project Consultants.

Born at Opuwo, Mbandeuru Muhenje attended Outjo High School and after completing matric he joined the Namcol pre-entry to tertiary education (PETE) programme to upgrade his science points.
Muhenje thereafter enrolled at Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) to study power engineering where he successfully obtained a National Diploma.
For his B-Tech degree, he attended the Cape Peninsula University of Science and Technology (CPUT). He graduated in April 2014 and immediately started working at Jacobs Engineering Consulting.
As an incorporated electrical engineer his duties include designing, contract documentation, construction supervision and commissioning of electrical works/projects.
In preparation for his new position, Muhenje researched the background of Lithon, their projects and operations before accepting his new appointment.
“The knowledge I have from my previous job also helps a lot. Being aided by the fact that I have a great team led by Setson Shifidi, who is the executive director of the Electrical and Mechanical Department at Lithon, as well as my colleagues Onesmus Shavuka and Tjomi Shatika, making my transition into my new appointment even more interesting and swiftly,” he says.
Muhenje believes that patience is indeed a virtue. He has faced challenges at school and university, during job hunting and while working with people from different backgrounds and personalities.
A few of his highlights are going to school and completing his education, going to Navachab Gold Mine for his internship, starting a job and providing for his family.
For Muhenje success in this position will be determined by the work he puts into completing projects on time and within budget and through the comments and reviews from clients and the company.
His future plans consist of becoming an accomplished electrical engineer and to learn more from the best in the engineering industry.
“To every young person out there, I would like to say that we should try and march forward with our dreams. I am not there or haven’t achieved all my goals yet but let’s continue pushing. The aim is to be self-sustainable as a person and eventually the country at large. So keep on putting in the hard work,” he says.
