Air Namibia has announced it will be suspending repatriation flights.
The company first announced the suspension on Twitter yesterday.
“Air Namibia has announced the suspension of charter flight operations effective Monday, 8 June 2020. The discontinuation of charter flights relates to operational requirements which necessitated the suspension,” a statement this afternoon by the national airline said.
Air Namibia’s repatriation flights have led to the safe return of more than 300 Namibians, it said.
“At the time of the announcement, Air Namibia completed more than 10 regional and international charter flight operations since April 2020, repatriating more than 300 Namibians and equally transported foreigners to return home. The airline also provided crucial services in the fight against Covid-19, transporting critical medical supplies, including personal protective equipment (PPE) and pharmaceuticals.”
