Air Namibia appoints new board chair
Existing Air Namibia board member Escher Luanda has been announced as the new board chairperson of the embattled national air carrier.
Luanda was announced as board chairperson this afternoon following the resignation of its former chair Windhoek lawyer Dee Sauls-Deckenbrock, and her deputy, Nangula Kauluma who both resigned last week Friday.
The development was announced by ministry of transport spokesperson Julius Ngweda this afternoon.
Air Namibia’s board resolved that a vice-chairperson will be appointed when new board members to replace the duo are announced in due course.
“During our tenure, we have made some solid progress, albeit not always publicly shared due to confidentiality and appropriateness of doing so, which has been recorded in our numerous meeting minutes, as well as ongoing communication with the shareholder,” said Kauluma last week Friday.
Deckenbrock for her part said: “With our departure from the company, we are honoured to have had the opportunity to serve in our roles on the board of directors as a demonstration of our commitment to our country and its economy.”
