A successful art workshop
The Red Bull Amaphiko Graffiti Workshop took place last Saturday at the Gondwana Shebeen with the prestige international graffiti artist, Mo Star from Kuwait.
In partnership with Ohorongo Cement, Neo Paints and Fresh FM, Red Bull was able to grant 19 Namibian artists a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to interact and connect with one another and with the world-renowned graffiti artist, through an informal couch session. Mo Star shared experiences on art, branding and becoming an entrepreneur through art, and using artistic talent to build a sustainable business. “I started from the bottom and worked my way up, educating myself on how to find a way to make the impossible, possible. I always found a way to make something work,” Mo Star explained. After a helpful question and answer session, Mo Star went through various graffiti techniques and then divided these artistic individuals into different groups to test their skills on graffiti implementation. Each artist was offered the chance to use their particular skills and expertise to impress Mo Star, as he was to choose one Namibian individual who would join him for an entire week travelling across the country as an apprentice. The artists were filled with gratitude as they all felt appreciated for their work and for being offered such an amazing opportunity. Equally, Mo Star was impressed by Namibian culture and our welcoming nature.
