CoW hosts third Social Agenda Session
The City of Windhoek in collaboration with partners, Innv8e Private (Pty) Limited (LTD) Company and Social Enterprise on Thursday hosted the third session of the Social Agenda Session to generate value towards social progression in the society.
The Sessions aimed at engaging “Thought Leadership” stakeholders for the provision of basic needs to the residents of the City of Windhoek and held on a bi-monthly basis.
The platform provides leading insights to key selected topics through organic dialogue and exchanges that hosted under the theme 'Promoting working Partnerships in the Provision of Basic Needs”.
Speaking at the event, City of Windhoek Mayor, Fransina Kahungu, said the municipal mandate is to provide services, but with the hard reality the city is facing daily, they decided to create the Mayoral Relief Fund as an outreach vehicle to support vulnerable people in the communities.
“The City, together with its social enterprise partners like Inn8e (Pty), created this as a platform to bring different stakeholders together in to build collaborative partnerships and new relationships that will generate value towards social progression,” said Kahungu.
At the same occasion, Deputy Director in the Ministry of Gender Equality, Poverty Eradication and Child Welfare (MGEPECW), Fillemon Shiimi said the ministry is facilitating socio-economic empowerment of communities with particular focus on women through the provision of Income Generating Activities (IGAs) materials and micro-entrepreneur support systems.
The MGEPECW mobilizes communities towards self-reliance; encourages them to initiate IGAs, as well as other activities that contribute to community upliftment and improved livelihoods.- Nampa
