At the start of September, former //Karas police chief David Indongo replaced Khomas commissioner Ismael Basson, who has been deployed to the Omusati Region.Indongo headed the //Karas police task force for the past six years and said he is ready to head crime prevention in the Khomas Region.This deployment formed part of new appointments, transfers and promotions that were announced by Namibian Police Inspector General, Sebastian Ndeitunga, before he vacated his office this month.At a parade that took place on 7 August in Keetmanshoop, Indongo said that about 212 members were promoted to different ranks and appointed in various capacities.Among the members promoted were 127 males and 85 females.Under Indongo’s command, several successful operations and projects were carried out, such as the Noordoewer police station and official accommodation that were constructed at a cost of N$56 million; the construction of the Aroab police station barracks; and the renovation of the Keetmanshoop police station female barracks, to name a few."To my police regional management, including station commanders, I appreciate the hard work you have done and for completing some of our most fruitful assignments entrusted to us by our top management," Indongo said.He said that he enjoyed his time in the //Karas Region and appreciates working with the team.Indongo expressed thanks for the support, advice, encouragement and teamwork he received during his stay in the region."I will be guilty if I fail to thank our counterparts in the South African police service for a good working relationship during joint cross-border operations," Indongo said.
