Securing the bag, one hamper at a time.
Some people acquire the love for business and others, like Vemutjiua Katjivena, are born with it.
Vemutjiua Katjivena, is a 20-year-old woman who was born and raised in Okakarara but now calls Windhoek home.
She is in her second year of pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture at the Namibian University of Science and Technology (NUST).
Since she can remember, she has always had a heart for business. In elementary school, she started by painting the nails of her classmates. In high school, she moved on to make-up and iPhone photography.
When she founded Treasurebox in 2020, Katjivena took the initiative to create a special and imaginative approach to express her clients' wants within a box.
When she first started the business, her plan was to stuff the hampers with snacks and goodies for clients, but it has since grown to include so much more, and in a way, that's what makes Treasurebox special.
Vast opportunities
Her biggest problem is time management. And, because she is the sole proprietor and a student, balancing her work and studies can be challenging at times.
She says her priorities nevertheless remain the same, and she always strives to make her clients happy by looking for creative ways to display their hampers.
"What I would have done differently is by starting my business with more capital initially and stocking up on my materials, before doing everything at once," said Katjivena.
She strongly believes that opportunities are vast, and she advises her peers to discover a need or an opening in the market and invest in themselves or their ideas.
“Even if you see an existing business, but you want to make it better, do it. It won't be easy, and I can't promise success, but for me, Treasurebox has been my blessing and has supported me immensely,” said Katjivena.
