Representing GIPF in Mariental
Mover and Shaker
Dennis Uirab is the primary GIPF contact and face of the fund for residents in and around Mariental.
The Government Institutions Pension Fund (GIPF) client service consultant in Mariental, Dennis Uirab, has been serving the fund for seven years.
Uirab says the experience has been wonderful. His daily duties include client engagement, enrolments, and verification on the biometric system; ensuring the accuracy and completeness of claims received; and ensuring the integrity of member data.
Uirab obtained an honours degree in marketing from the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) in 2019. Studying marketing gave him hope of getting a career in the field, but working with clients and getting that exposure makes it even better.
Some of his accomplishments include travelling to many parts of Namibia and engaging with members of the fund. During these interactions, he gets the opportunity to inform members of their benefits as well as the GIPF rules.
Enhanced access
Uirab was selected to be the key resource for the fund at the recently opened Mariental regional office. He will be the point of contact and face of the fund for residents in and around Mariental. Through his work, he has been privileged to travel around the country on outreach programmes and has witnessed the dire need for representation of GIPF offices in all regions. This is because members often have to travel long distances to access GIPF services.
"I am grateful to be one of the first staff members in the Mariental office and would like to encourage all our members in the Hardap Region and surrounding areas to make use of their new office," he said.
He says the best thing about being in this position is the client and member satisfaction observed. Making a difference in GIPF members lives adds to the satisfaction of his work. Sharing his experience while working at GIPF, he says he is able to work independently, enhance presentation skills, be decisive, and be a team player. He advises that hard work, empathy, and great communication skills are vital for this position and to ensure customer satisfaction.
In his free time, Uirab enjoys spending time with his children, watching soccer and reading motivational books.
