Pritchard happily juggles roles at Ogilvy Namibia
Embracing new opportunities
Eight years, five roles, and now a shareholder: Meet Ogilvy Namibia's Megan Pritchard
With her industry experience and passion for quality and brand reputation, Megan Pritchard loves to get the job done. Pritchard was appointed as a new board member and shareholder of Ogilvy in April.
Her contagious energy and zest for life inspire her team and clients.
Juggling being a board member and shareholder, as well as being Ogilvy’s chief operations director, boils down to effective time management and a balance of prioritising and hard work, Pritchard told Careers.
She studied at the Prestige Academy in South Africa, now known as STADIO, where she graduated cum laude in business marketing from the academy.
She was the top performer in her first year of studies.
Pritchard also completed a short course and obtained a certificate in digital marketing through Red & Yellow, the Creative School of Business in South Africa.
Duties and responsibilities
“At Ogilvy, change is our lifeblood. It is a rule we follow to help this world and the people in it. Change is everything, change is good. We never settle,” Pritchard said about her work.
Pritchard oversees the day-to-day administrative and operational functions of the business. She is second in the chain of command, ensuring that all business objectives are met efficiently and effectively.
Amongst other responsibilities, she directs and oversees all employees, ensuring they are appropriately motivated and trained to meet their responsibilities.
She contributes to the development of the company’s corporate strategy and leads the strategy development process to ensure the company achieves its short and long-term objectives.
She oversees the agency's quality objectives and develops all necessary policies and procedures to maintain a safe and healthy working environment.
Additionally, she maintains effective working relationships with all the directors to ensure effective coordination of company activities in support of corporate objectives. Furthermore, Pritchard serves as the company’s main adviser on all operational matters, staying updated on the latest developments to ensure the company maintains its competitive position.
Pritchard is optimistic about the future.
"While maintaining and growing our current family of brands to new heights, we definitely have massive change on the way again," she said.
On 1 March, Ogilvy Namibia launched an innovation hub, led by Maryke Van Lill, the newly appointed innovation director.
With its new strategy in place, Ogilvy Namibia invites everyone to follow them online, to stay tuned for new developments, and to trust their ability and dedication to put Namibia on the map.
Never boring
Pritchard says the most enjoyable part of her job is definitely the thrill of the chase, which never gets boring. Throughout her time working for the company, Pritchard has been proud of achieving so much at a young age.
"It has proven that dreams really do come true if you work and put your mind to it," she said.
Throughout her career, she has learnt lessons that have influenced her professional growth.
She believes that everything in life happens for a reason.
Pritchard describes herself as a natural problem solver. She said when challenges arise, whether big or small, she tackles them head-on.
She said overthinking and avoiding an issue only turns it into an obstacle.
"Never let anything get too big; you then start losing control," she advised.
About Pritchard
In her private time, Pritchard enjoys spending time in the kitchen and experimenting with new cooking techniques.
Equally, she enjoys great food. "I sometimes wish restaurants would hire me for food and experience evaluations; I have the finest eye on detail and quality," she said.
She loves spending time with her pets and going on spontaneous missions.
She also enjoys an assortment of hobbies. The most recent one was taking pottery classes, which she loved. Being in the garden with her morning coffee, planning a vacation, and meeting new people are some of her favourite things to do.
