The Environment Investment Fund (EIF) has announced the appointment of Romeo Muyunda as manager for corporate communications.

"The EIF Namibia is pleased to announce that it has appointed the seasoned and multi-award winner Romeo Muyunda as manager for corporate communications effective 1 March 2025," the EIF said in a recent statement.

The EIF said Muyunda brings with him a wealth of experience spanning over 15 years in the communications field. He has been at the helm of communications, heading PR units at the environment and tourism ministry as well as at the education ministry.

Muyunda is regarded as a top-performing communicator throughout his career.

In 2013, while at the education ministry, he was named top communicator by The Villager Newspaper. Kalahari reporters ranked him number one on the list of the best communicators in the country in 2021.

At the inaugural government communication officer’s awards hosted by the information ministry in 2023, Muyunda scooped the overall best communication in government and best communication officer in the ministries categories, respectively.

In 2024, he again won best government communications officer overall and the best in government ministries categories.

"The EIF Namibia is proud to be associated with such an achiever and is confident that, given his ability, Muyunda will play a pivotal role in advancing the goals and objectives of the fund," the statement read.

Common goals

The fund has an overall mandate to raise financial resources for investment in environmental protection and natural resource management, maintenance of biological diversity and ecosystem activities and projects which support the sustainable economic development of Namibia.

In EIF said its aspirations align with those of Muyunda, who has demonstrated his passion and commitment to environmental preservation through his time at the environment ministry.

Muyunda holds a bachelor’s degree in media studies and sociology and is currently enrolled for a postgraduate diploma in management at the Namibia University of Science and Technology.
