Windhoek Accounting & Taxation (WAT) was co-founded in 2016 by Julius David, the company's current managing director.

According to the company's official profile, the accounting firm currently employs 26 industry professionals with diverse expertise.

"Together, we effectively serve businesses, governments and public entities and provide audit assurance practices," said Bernadedt Kandenge, their general manager. She said that they operate in Namibia, South Africa and Geneva.

Accomplishments

WAT has collaborated with Anderson Global, an international entity providing class tax and legal services around the world.

This partnership has enabled WAT to expand internationally and achieve further growth, leveraging the extensive network and connections of Anderson Global across the globe.

"We have since seen growth and evolution both within the establishment and our services due to the acquired knowledge and experience, allowing us to cater to a larger audience." Their services range from professional bookkeeping and accounting services, payroll services, accounting advisory, statutory return filling, taxation services, various corporate registrations, business advisory services, and company secretarial services.

"To build global legal and tax capacity, most Windhoek Accounting personnel are currently enrolled at the University of San Francisco for degrees and master’s degrees in taxation and legal programmes."

Windhoek Accounting benefits from the global pool of expertise from over 170 countries in all aspects of business consultancy as a benefit of its collaboration with Andersen Global.

Promoting services

They make use of Google Ads, word of mouth, social media marketing and traditional printed marketing to get their message across. "I believe what makes us stand out is our marketing techniques and service quality. The expertise WAT possesses allows for more versatility and caters to more client avatars in the market. We also have affordable competitive prices in the market."

Bridging challenges

As a small and medium-sized enterprise (SME), WAT also faces various challenges; however, acute financial management keeps them moving forward.

Kandenge said they compete with larger companies in a small market and thus position themselves as a trusted financial adviser for SMEs across all industries to mitigate the issue.

"Having to deal with SME clients has proven to be challenging at times, especially when it comes to integrating streamline-based technological solutions into services. A case in point is the technical conversion for consultations. And explaining the new NamRA tax system ITAS on how to efficiently use it for the benefit of their companies’ VAT process for both parties."

In the future, WAT aspires to tap into new markets beyond the regional areas of Namibia.

They want to expand and have branch offices around the country, enabling them to service their clients more conveniently.
