The learners of Duinesig High School -who are currently writing mock exams - shared how they are making sure to properly to prepare for the year-end exams.
Jennipher Mbari
I divide my work in sections to make the work easier and I write down my notes as well. At the same time I write my notes, I memorise them. I then also read and rewrite those notes on another sheet to see how much of my work I can remember.

Before I start studying, I listen to 2Pac’s music to help me stay motivated. It also encourages me to stay focused. As 2Pac once said, “the only way to make a living is to strategise”, so I advise everyone to strategise as well.

What helps me a lot is to ensure that I motivate myself and stay positive throughout the exam. I also gather all my external sources - be it extra notes or previous questions papers.

Most importantly, I prioritise my studies and prepare myself by allocating days and different time slots for studying, which complements my study table. I also get rid of all my distractions and, lastly, I put all my faith in the Almighty.

Before studying, I first gather all the materials I need for that specific subject and what helps me a lot is to answer questions from the syllabi. What also helps is going through old question papers.

I make sure to study properly beforehand and I also make sure that all my notes are up to date and that I am caught up with my schoolwork. This prevents me from stressing a day before the exams start. I also make use of five-minute breaks to just breathe.
