New uniform for Noordgrens
In a move to distinguish itself from neighbouring schools, Noordgrens Secondary School has introduced a brand-new school uniform.
The transition began in January, aiming to put an end to years of confusion caused by sharing a similar uniform design with Dr Romanus Kampungu Secondary School. Learners from Noordgrens were often mistaken for those from Dr Romanus, and this change is meant to give Noordgrens its own identity and visual presence.
The new uniform features a modern blue-checked shirt embroidered with the school's logo, a matching school tie, and a sleek navy blazer also proudly displaying the school’s emblem. The design reflects the school's colour theme while giving learners a distinct, polished appearance.
Many learners have shared positive feedback about the change.
A Grade 10C learner commented, “The new school shirts are unique and one of a kind. It makes us stand out and sets us apart from other schools. It really marks us as Noordgrens learners.”
A Grade 11B learner described the change as bold and eye-catching. “The checked pattern makes people curious, and the colour blue ties in well with the school's identity. The tie adds a confident touch."
Parents had mixed opinions with many appreciating the idea but questioning the timing and affordability. One parent shared, “At first, I didn’t like the idea, but after seeing it in person, I think it looks really good. As a parent of boys, I appreciate that the shirts don’t look dirty easily like the old white ones. But I do wish the school had negotiated a better price. Some of us have three or more kids, and it becomes expensive.
However, the new uniform creates a sense of unity and pride, making learners feel like they belong to something bigger.”
While the adjustment has come with its challenges, most agree that the new uniform is a step in the right direction. It sets Noordgrens apart, fosters school spirit, and presents a fresh, professional image for learners to carry with pride.
