Growing up, I believed that being a good leader meant using your power and authority to make people do what you want them to do, but being head boy has taught me that being a powerful leader only imposes fear and not respect. It has taught me that I cannot lead my fellow learners to a brighter future with fear but that I need understanding as well as compassion to be a good leader. My time as head boy has helped me gain a better understanding of other people and a better perception of others. Being a leader has helped me become a better person.
