Fueling the Competition – King Price Netball Challenge

The second leg of the King Price Netball Challenge took place on Tuesday, 22 April, at the Wanderers Sports Field in Windhoek. This competition features three high schools known for their intense sporting rivalry: Windhoek Afrikaanse Privaatskool (WAP), Windhoek High School (WHS), and Windhoek Gymnasium Secondary School.



These schools are renowned for their high level of competitiveness in sports, particularly against one another. The aim of the challenge is to keep that competitive spirit alive. On the day, girls aged between 13 and 19 took to the court, ready to battle it out for victory. A total of 21 games were played in this leg.



One of the event organisers, Liezl Gabers, shared that the idea was born from the desire to increase sporting activity between the three schools. They were fortunate to secure King Price as a sponsor to bring the vision to life.

“Normally, we only play one game in the super league followed by a play-off. For the sake of our teams’ development, we decided we wanted more frequent matches against each other, which led to the creation of the King Price Challenge,” Gabers explained.



With two legs of the competition now complete, four more remain and will take place throughout the year. The next leg is scheduled for the third week of May.
