Exam blues!

Find a study approach that works for you
Exams can be a stressful time, but maintaining self-discipline, preventing procrastination and implementing clear goals and study plans can ease the stress.

It's exam season, an exciting yet challenging time for many students, as they determine whether or not you advance to the next grade.

During this period, it's crucial to remain calm and have confidence in your abilities. Embrace different perspectives, confront discomfort and be willing to step out of your comfort zone, as the greatest rewards often lie on the other side.

Maintaining a positive mindset is essential, as it enables clear thinking. Never allow self-doubt to hold you back, as your potential knows no bounds.

‘Perseverance and hard work’

A study conducted by the University of Namibia (Unam) in 2017 highlighted that students have diverse study methods and styles.

Therefore, it's vital to discover a study approach that suits you best. Ensure that you understand your materials thoroughly and consider reviewing past question papers as part of your revision strategy. Keep in mind that success is built on perseverance and hard work.

As Steve Harvey wisely noted: "Growth comes in a series of mistakes, and that is the only way you will learn."

Set your own goals, create a study plan and avoid the trap of cramming the night before exams. Last-minute studying increases stress levels, leading to a feeling of being overwhelmed and it doesn't allow sufficient time to cover the content taught throughout the year. Develop self-discipline and avoid procrastination.

Furthermore, establish clear goals and objectives, along with effective strategies to achieve them. Remember, hard work is the cornerstone of achieving great results. Most importantly, trust in your faith or spirituality. Trust that God, the guiding force, has ordained your path. While God fights for us, He also works through our determination to succeed. Therefore, it's vital to have strong willpower as you navigate this challenging season.
