Nine years of transformative leadership
Bringing people together served as the guiding principle throughout her tenure, both within the school and in the broader Namibian community.
In a joyous farewell celebration, the Deutsche Höhere Privatschule Windhoek (DHPS) bid adieu to its esteemed principal, Kristin Eichholz, marking the end of a transformative nine-year tenure. Eichholz, who spearheaded numerous initiatives and navigated the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic with resilience, leaves behind a legacy of educational innovation and a strengthened sense of community.
Under her stewardship, DHPS underwent a remarkable physical transformation, with the addition of a new gym, state-of-the-art science labs and a modern exterior façade. However, her impact extended far beyond bricks and mortar.
Eichholz's vision included the establishment of an integrated, bilingual junior secondary section and the reintroduction of the prestigious Cambridge degree programme, positioning DHPS as a beacon of educational excellence.
The theme of bringing people together served as the guiding principle throughout her tenure, both within the school and in the broader Namibian community. Emphasising cultural encounters, celebrating diversity and fostering social commitment became hallmarks of her leadership. Even amid the challenges posed by the pandemic, she actively engaged the DHPS community in charitable efforts, coordinating with the DHPS Interact Club to support soup kitchens and inspiring others to join the cause.

Reflecting on her time in Namibia, Eichholz spoke of the deep friendships forged with various projects and organisations. Her commitment to building bridges between cultures and fostering a sense of togetherness resonated not only in her professional role, but also in her private life.
Managing a school during a global pandemic presented unique challenges, but Eichholz's straightforwardness, unwavering commitment and efforts to strengthen the community's bond enabled DHPS to weather the storm successfully.
Her leadership was particularly evident during the pandemic, where she ensured continuity in education while prioritising the well-being of learners and staff.
As Eichholz prepared to depart, the DHPS community dedicated its last days of school to expressing gratitude and bidding her farewell.
On 7 December, dubbed 'Ms Eichholz Day', learners and colleagues across all age groups presented small dance and song performances, organised a heartfelt breakfast and showcased various creative tributes. The outpouring of affection and appreciation underscored the profound impact she had on the school community.
With the imminent arrival of her successor in January, Eichholz expressed confidence in passing on a school that is not only physically enhanced, but also characterised by a vibrant, inclusive and collaborative spirit.
The DHPS community collectively thanked her for the past nine years, wished her well in her future endeavours and expressed anticipation for a possible reunion in the future.
As Eichholz embarks on her journey back to Hamburg, her legacy at DHPS will undoubtedly endure, leaving an indelible mark on the school's history and the lives of those she touched.
