Current and former learners shower teacher with love as she leaves
A new chapter
JG van der Wath wished her the best of luck, and thanked her for her years of service.
Martha David, a high school science teacher at JG van der Wath, officially left her teaching post on 22 February this year after years of service to the school and its learners. There was no hard feelings between her and the school, rather she believed it was time for her to pursue new opportunities and open a new chapter in her life.
David was widely beloved by her learners, who said she put in an incredible amount of effort into her work. They mentioned that she always tried to make the classes as exciting as possible for her learners.
"We say goodbye to a long serving member, Ms. David. She is an outstanding science teacher and the school community will surely miss her," a farewell post read. This goodbye was met with emotional comments from old learners.
An old learner, Suné Platt said: "Ms David was a mom to most. She always made sure you're all set and well. She cared so much about every learner, even if you were the loudest noise in the class; she would love all of us equally".
Another learner called her "purely amazing".
Jennifer Katjimune, a former learner, added: "Ms David was such a calm, loving, soft and caring teacher I remember from back when I was still in high school".
The community all wished her luck with her new post and her journey further. It is agreed that she had a massive impact on her learners' lives and that they will always remember what she did for them.
JG van der Wath wishes her the best of luck further, and thanks her for her years of service. She was a massive boon to the school.
