Celebrating excellence at Maurits Devenish Private School
The annual prize-giving ceremony at Maurits Devenish Private School was held on 25 February - a celebration of hard work, dedication and excellence.
The prize-giving ceremony began with an inspiring speech by the school manager, Mr Demachu Brand, who emphasised the importance of perseverance and determination. He commended the learners for their efforts, encouraging them to continue striving for excellence.
Awards were presented to learners who excelled in various fields. Academic excellence awards were given to the top four performing learners in each grade, with a criterion that required a score of 70% and above. Learners who scored between 70% and 79% received silver certificates, while those scoring 80% and above were awarded gold certificates. The event also honored learners who showed remarkable improvements and contributions, recognizing their hard work and dedication.

The event was not solely focused on awards; it also featured captivating performances by talented learners. Grade 11 learner Yunilde Belchior mesmerised the audience with her sweet voice, while Abel Eriberito played the piano beautifully, capturing everyone's attention. Bilha Amukutuwa, a grade 7 learner, took centre stage, clutching a flute captivating the audience with graceful melodies.

In addition to the academic awards, the school also celebrated outstanding NSSCO results, with an impressive number one position in Chemistry and number two positions in English and Physical Science, achieving A-C symbols with an 80-100% pass rate. Furthermore, Biology and Mathematics were also highlighted in the top 10 regional performance in the Oshana Region.
