The OYO Dance Troupe held its first show ‘Remembering’ for the year at the Franco Namibian Cultural Centre (FNCC) last Wednesday, 28 February.

The show, aptly titled ‘Remembering,’ served as a bridge between the troupe’s illustrious past and its ambitious future, presenting a curated selection from last year's hits, including ‘Remembering Johnny’ and ‘Picassiana Dance,’ alongside an exciting preview of this year's projects.

The evening was not just a walk down memory lane but also a showcase of the troupe's dynamism and evolving repertoire. The audience was treated to a spectrum of emotions, from the poignant echoes of yesteryear to the vibrant promise of tomorrow. ‘Remembering’ stood as a testament to OYO's commitment to not just preserve dance as an art form but also push its boundaries.

One of the highlights was a performance piece from OYO’s current repertoire, demonstrating the troupe’s versatility and the depth of its artistic vision. This blend of reflection and foresight, tradition and innovation, ensured that ‘Remembering’ was not merely a show but an experience – a celebration of dance that resonated with the audience long after the curtains fell. Namibian Sun was there to capture the highlights.
