The Hyundai i30 N is a high-performance hatchback that has made a name for itself in the automotive industry as a true driver's car.

With its bold styling, powerful engine, and track-focused handling, the i30 N is a standout in its segment. Hyundai has put a lot of effort into designing a car that is both fun to drive and practical for everyday use, making it a great choice for enthusiasts who want a bit of everything.

In this review, we will dive deep into what makes the i-30 N such a compelling car and why it should be on your shortlist if you're in the market for a sporty hatchback.

Unforgettable drive

Sales manager at Hyundai Namibia, Hugo Arangies, recently took My.Na Cars on a ride with the i-30 and it had the blood in our motoring veins rushing.

From the black front headlamps and assertive front bumper (with its larger air intakes) to the rear stiffness bar and the red brake callipers with the striking N logo behind the unique 19-inch aluminium wheels, the new i30 N features an exterior designed to cheat the wind and win hearts.

The interior of the new i30 N is made to awaken all the senses. It starts with sporty front seats, designed to provide exceptional support and comfort, and the bespoke N steering wheel with dedicated N-mode button, as well as an N-specific race computer, which features a lap timer, G-force metre, boost gauge and launch control.

"As soon as you start the vehicle, it is automatically adjusted to individual preferences for a comfortable ride," Arangies explained.

Top of the range

Top specification features included in the car include a 10.25-inch infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality on all models, a USB-charging socket and cell phone storage space for rear passengers (fluid models), a multi-function steering wheel with radio and telephone control buttons in all variants, and adaptive cruise control.

"Once the car is put in sports mode, it has an electronic flap within the exhaust that opens up and gives you a much louder sound, loud enough to awaken the race driver in you," Arangies said.

"Most other high-performance vehicles that you purchase, you would need to add a lot of features that you would like," he said, pointing out that the i30 is competitively priced at N$699 000.

The vehicle is fitted with 18-inch Pirelli tyres to complement its sporting nature.

According to Arangies, the vehicle comes in five different colour options: polar white, engine red, performance blue, phantom black, and atlas white.

The i30 N is only available with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine.

The i30 N is packed with comfort and convenience features that make every ride the ride of your life. Its unparalleled performance will make you feel something you’ve never felt before. It delivers uncompromised exhilaration on both the road and track.
