Humour reigns supreme
The Windhoek Carnival is in full swing, with the Royal Ball, street parade and kids carnival already done and dusted.
On Friday evening, the new royal couples were announced.
They are Prince Reinhard and Princess Saskia; the Juka (youth) royal couple is Prince Henry and Princess Saskia, while the Kikawi (kids) royal couple is Prince Mauritius and Princess Mila.
On Saturday, a symbolic "key to the city" was handed over to the new royal couple at the Windhoek municipality, followed by the street parade, where it rained sweets that were eagerly collected by both young and old.
The revelry has only reached the halfway mark though, because there are still a number of events on the programme:
• Wednesday, 29 March: Ladies and gents night followed by the Masked Ball. Tickets: N$150
• Thursday, 30 March: First international evening. Tickets: N$250
• Friday, 31 March: Second international evening. Tickets: N$250
• Saturday, 1 April: Juka youth carnival. Tickets: N$70.
All events take place at the SKW. See you there!
