The Harley Owners Group (HOG) Namibia Chapter hosted the Skeleton Coast Rally in Swakopmund this weekend. The gathering and registration had already begun on Thursday. This marked the sixth occasion of hosting the rally, although this year it took place at a different venue, the MTC Dome Namibia.

Holger Sircoulomb, the director of HOG, emphasised the rally's traditional connection to Swakopmund: "The Skeleton Coast Rally belongs here, and Swakopmund is its home. We hold it biennially to accommodate participants in managing their expenses, especially considering the rising fuel costs."

Sircoulomb noted an increase in visitors not only from South Africa but also from Zambia, Lesotho and Botswana. Approximately 275 individuals registered, with around 198 motorcycles present. "Anyone with a motorcycle license and a Harley Davidson, regardless of age, is welcome. However, it's important to emphasise that this is an exclusive event for motorcycle owners; it's not a casual gathering," he added.

He also added that there is an open-door policy for Swakopmund residents on Saturday to observe the motorcycles and festivities.

The rally served as a gathering for motorcycle enthusiasts to bond over shared experiences and adventures with their Harley Davidsons. The Saturday highlight was the Thunder Parade, where Harley Davidsons paraded through Swakopmund's streets, journeying to Walvis Bay before returning.
