Empowering families through partnership: Metropolitan unveils ELCIN funeral cover

Ogone Tlhage
Momentum Metropolitan Namibia, through its retail brand Metropolitan, has officially launched the ELCIN Funeral Plan, a purpose-built funeral cover product offered exclusively to members of

the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Namibia (ELCIN). The launch event, held in Ondangwa, brought together church leadership, Metropolitan executives, financial advisers, and

stakeholders in celebration of a partnership committed to dignity, care, and practical support for families during times of loss.

The ELCIN Funeral Plan is a voluntary group scheme that provides accessible, affordable cover for up to 21 lives on a single policy—including extended family—while also supporting ELCIN’s

broader mission of community upliftment and social care. In his keynote address, Sakaria Nghikembua, Group CEO of Momentum Metropolitan Namibia, highlighted the significance of the initiative.

“This partnership is about dignity—beforedeath, and after. It’s about enabling families to plan ahead, with confidence, compassion and clarity. Through this product, we extend Metropolitan’s promise to walk alongside Namibians in every season of life.”

The product offers cover for immediate and extended family members with no medical tests required, fast claim payouts within 48 hours, and optional benefits such as tombstone, livestock,

income protection, and accidental death cover. Premiums are structured to be affordable, with flexible options that reflect cultural needs and economic realities.

Reverend Eino Nangula, the director of finance for ELCIN, expressed his deep appreciation for the Scheme that will address the needs of ELCIN members while enhancing financial stability, self-

reliance, and community services. He urged all ELCIN members to embrace the project, noting that it is a timely opportunity to benefit their families. He pledged his support and looks forward

to strong cooperation in this endeavor.

ELCIN and Metropolitan share a vision for every household to be prepared, protected, and empowered through thoughtful financial planning—guided by faith, supported by community,

and driven by partnership.
