Cube 800: Powered by innovation

Portable and robust solar power
With the costs of energy soaring ever higher, the business case for sustainable energy solutions is becoming more and more attractive.

We live in a world where electricity has never been more important. We use electricity for almost everything. We use it to power our home appliances and lighting fixtures, mobile devices, computers and laptops, and other things. Businesses and companies especially need electricity so that they can operate efficiently.

Almost everything we see around us every day uses electricity to run.

Because of that, the demand for electricity has never been higher. As such, costs have hiked too. Because of that, a lot of people, especially homeowners, are looking for alternative sources of energy, and when in the market of these solutions, Pupkewitz MegaTech is undoubtedly the industry leader.

The sun is your source

The potential of solar energy as an alternative source of energy has long been established, but high capital and installation costs have been a barrier to access for many. In an effort to give clients and service providers a high quality solar solution that is easy to install, the team at MegaTech has just launched their exciting new Cube 800 product, which brings a new level of flexibility and affordability to customers, whether they are on the grid or off it.

“It has been a long journey over the past two years. We wanted to create an all-in-one pre-assembled solar solution that is modular, easy to install and will give customers a flexible, affordable and long-lasting renewable energy”, Morne Nell, manager of Pupkewitz MegaTech, said.

“All you need to do is connect it to your solar panels and to the grid, and you have a 3-in-1 solution offering the benefit of a generator, UPS and a solar saver,” he added.

Over the past few years, residential solar panels have gained a lot of momentum and popularity due to raising energy costs. With the Cube 800, this is further enhanced as clients can now access a mobile, long-lasting and relatively affordable solar solution, which is fully supported by MegaTech’s network of accredited installers and in-house support team, who can actually do diagnostics remotely, if connectivity allows.

Out-of-the-box thinking

The Pupkewitz MegaTech residential solar model is geared to provide a complete solar solution for the Namibian residential market. After two years in development, this new, all-inclusive value proposition is almost identical to their current retail solutions, yet is unique in several aspects.

The Cube 800 is completely pre-assembled with the necessary quality vetting and only requires connection of the panels to the grid. It is a complete EPC solution, which includes sizing, engineering, installation and financing, and has been carefully developed to cope with the harsh Namibian conditions, providing peace of mind knowing that you have a 10-year or 3 500 cycle quality guarantee.

“Not only is the Cube 800 a plug-and-play system, it is also scalable and will provide customers with a complete hassle-free solar PV system that can provide you with enough power to carry most of your residential needs,” Nell added.

The team at MegaTech have even gone as far as to trial the Cube 800 at their Eenhana branch, where the entire showroom is run on the system.

The Cube 800 comes with a pre-programmed inverter, pre-connected batteries, a battery management system and a 6kW inverter with 6500 W MPPT, and comes in a neat and compact design, which can easily be fitted under a standard table or counter. The system boasts a 10.2kWh lithium battery (expandable), is NRS 097-2 grid code compliant and is available in three-phase and parallel configuration on request.

Thanks to its expert engineering and top-quality components, the team is so confident in the Cube 800, they offer a five-year warrantee on the inverter and a 10-year warrantee on the batteries.

Units are 'movable', providing access to tenants of rented buildings and the system can easily be upgraded to increase capacity in the future.

Pupkewitz promise

Warrantees and guarantees on the equipment are protected since all installations are done by MegaTech certified installers to manufacturer specifications. Maintenance is handled on a pay-as-you-need basis and priced separately from the equipment and installation, and is performed by a certified installer.

Individual units are serialised and free-standing. This will provide admission to asset finance and insurance as proof of separate ownership is possible. Customers can fund this investment via banks, through a finance lease model or through your housing bond.

“Though this system comes at a cost of roughly N$170 000, the cost savings are tremendous and that capital investment is soon recouped through savings, and then you continue to enjoy the benefits of the Cube 800 for many more years,” Nell said.
