Capital Residence, located in Windhoek's central business district, offers students modern, secure accommodation with unique features aimed at fostering a sense of community among residents. Teopolina Mpingana, Property Administrator provided an inside look at the residence’s offerings and the services designed to support students throughout their academic year.

Comprehensive student services

Mpingana oversees all aspects of student accommodation, ensuring that facilities meet the needs of students. “Being a Property Administrator at Namibia Student Accommodation involves supervising the application process and ensuring maintenance and readiness of all rooms,” she explained. Rooms range from single to quad, each outfitted for student living, and include shared kitchen and bathroom spaces.

Capital Residence distinguishes itself with a range of services such as in-house cleaning of common areas and laundry, making it a convenient option for students. The accommodation also provides free Wi-Fi, with utilities included in the rental fee. “We aim to make students’ lives easier so they can focus on their studies,” Mpingana said.

Advanced security and community atmosphere

Security is a top priority at Capital Residence, where each student has unique biometric access via fingerprint. This measure ensures that only residents can access the living quarters. “We want students to feel secure and have peace of mind,” Mpingana said. Visitors are welcome in designated common areas like the student hub, but access to living spaces remains restricted for added safety. Capital Residence also offers students an entertainment area, designed to encourage interaction and create a sense of community. “Students come from diverse backgrounds, and we want them to connect and support one another,” she said. The entertainment area provides a social space for students while also allowing for privacy within rooms, catering to both social and individual preferences.

Prime location

Capital Residence provides easy access to essential services and local attractions. “Our location makes it ideal for students as we are close to hospitals, pharmacies, shopping centres, and within walking distance of several tertiary institutions, including Namibia University of Science and Technology and the International University of Management,” Mpingana highlighted. The proximity to academic institutions reduces travel time and allows students to be closer to their campus resources.

Flexible leasing options

Capital Residence offers flexible leasing arrangements to accommodate students' varying needs. Options include month-to-month leases, a 10-month contract, or a 12-month long-term lease. “Most students prefer the 12-month option for a guaranteed place to stay throughout the academic year,” she added.

Students are also allowed to stay during the holiday months without any extra charges, even if they choose to leave their belongings on the premises. This flexibility provides students with stability and removes the pressure of finding alternative housing during breaks.

How to apply

The application process at Capital Residence is straightforward. Students can apply online or via email, and responses are typically provided within one to two days. Only registered students at a tertiary institution are eligible. “The entire move-in process is efficient, with a walkthrough inspection to help students settle in quickly,” Mpingana shared. For students seeking accommodation, Capital Residence offers an appealing balance of security, community, and convenience. Interested applicants can connect via Instagram and Facebook at “Namibia Student Accommodation” or reach out directly by phone or email. In addition to security and convenience, the residence is well-equipped to support students’ needs. “We’ve designed this space to be modern and functional,” Mpingana concluded.
