Bank Windhoek’s SME Information Session encourages growth

Actively fostering economic growth by directly engaging with Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), Bank Windhoek hosted an SME Information Session on Tuesday, 8 April 2025. The event was held in partnership with the City of Windhoek at the Bokamoso Training Centre in Windhoek. The session brought together 20 established and aspiring entrepreneurs from diverse sectors, including education, beauty, retail and art, a first for these engagements. Bank Windhoek’s head of SME, financial and data analytics, Bianca Janse van Vuuren, said the session discussed realistic challenges SMEs face and explored collaborative solutions. “These open discussions are a key part of Bank Windhoek’s role as a Connector of Positive Change, aiming to guide each SME towards accessing the financial products needed for sustainable growth,” she said. Founder of Mobile Architectural and Photography Services (MAPS), Thomas Nangonja, shared his vision of empowering youth through skills transfer, aspiring to a larger scale. He emphasised that true passion fuels business growth. Dedicated to supporting SME clients, Bank Windhoek’s Business Banking i-Lounge Department presented the Bank’s various lending and transactional products and outlined the lending criteria. Attendees openly discussed their personal business hurdles, highlighting the realities of entrepreneurship with limited resources and celebrating their successes. A key message conveyed was the power of starting small and effectively utilising available resources. Bank Windhoek’s Administration and Collections Manager, Clarissa Huisamen, noted this session as the “most successful” due to the rich engagement and valuable feedback from SMEs. The City of Windhoek supported the event, recognising its significant impact. It encouraged the continuation of information sessions, which further solidified Bank Windhoek’s commitment to supporting local businesses.
