Bringing together over 3,750 expected attendees, the milestone edition of the Mozambique Gas & Energy Summit and Exhibition gathers key Mozambican and international government, ministerial and industry stakeholders along with IECs, NOCs, EPCs, investors, developers and private sector value chain participants to engage in offtake negotiations, project tenders, multilateral partnerships, technology showcasing, and knowledge and best practice exchange.

Endorsed by the Mozambique Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy (MIREME) and organised by dmg events in partnership with Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos (ENH), the summit also promotes and empowers the development of local content to serve as a platform to evolve the Mozambican energy landscape to ensure long-term future success for the country and its citizens within the global energy community.

Since 2013, the Mozambique Gas & Energy Summit and Exhibition has established itself as the official platform for the international gas, LNG and energy sector in Mozambique. The summit has charted Mozambique’s numerous energy megaprojects at various phases of development and provided a transformational showcasing of opportunities for both public and private sectors to collaborate to ensure that the innovations and technologies being deployed are an enabler for local jobs creation, technical capacity and knowledge development, socioeconomic growth and a positive contributor to a decarbonised and sustainable energy transition.

Themed “Powering Positive Progress”, the tenth anniversary edition of the event celebrates energy industry developments as well as presentsthe opportunities within the country’s energy sector over the next five years.

Milestones

Key industry milestones platformed at the summit include the launch and presentation of Mozambique’s Gas Masterplan in 2013 and the signing of a 20-year long-term LNG offtake contract between bp and Mozambique Rovuma Venture S.p.A. in 2016.

Energy industry opportunities on Mozambique’s horizon include 100tcf of proven natural gas reserves, 12 500mw estimated hydropower potential, and 2.7gw of potential solar energy resources.

To launch the landmark edition of the Summit, a press conference was held in Maputo at the end of February and served as an opportunity for key developments in the Mozambican energy sector to be shared, as well as the revealing of new elements of the summit that aims to add value across the energy industry value chain and increase socio economic impact.

The press conference saw the unveiling of a new partnership formed between dmg events, the organisers, and Field Ready, whose proprietary and innovative youth employability platform nurtures pre and post education candidates though industry STEM, capacity building and training programmes to ready them for jobs in the field.

Generation Ready

Associated with the youth employability platform is the annual Generation Ready meeting that gathers both qualified candidates with prospective employers. The event in Mozambique has been the gathering place for all those companies who recognise the value in unlocking the talent of young Mozambican men and women.

The dmg events and Field Ready partnership aims to integrate the Generation Ready meeting as part of the tenth anniversary edition of the summit, to position Mozambican youth at the forefront of the opportunity and to engage with government and industry to share ideas, champion progress and collaborate as never before.
