Legal counsel for Ingrid Nolte, who failed in a court case earlier this week to keep two female cheetahs on her farm near Keetmanshoop, confirmed to Republikein this morning that the ministry intends to remove the animals from Nolte’s care and relocate them to a national park.

"We wish to highlight that the ultimate result of Justice Parker's judgment would be the death of Zhandile and Nika."

An attorney from Cronje Inc. explained that Nika and Zhandile were rescued as wild animals in distress, and they have since become habituated and are now domesticated wild animals.

"They are dependent on their caretaker and owner, Ms Nolte, for survival. They will be sent to certain death if left to fend for themselves in the wild."
