Vivo Energy acquires GasIt
• Company to start selling, distributing LPG
The acquisition positions Vivo Energy Namibia as the first oil marketer to operate its own brand of LPG in the Namibian energy space.
Vivo Energy Namibia this weekend announced another acquisition to its business empire - GasIt.
Corporate communications manager Lazarus Nafidi said the acquisition of the gas distributor means the company will commence with the selling and distribution of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
In a press release, Nafidi said since 2012, GasIt has developed its LPG business in Namibia’s evolving energy market with a clear vision and focus on delivering a high-quality service and product to its customers.
This acquisition and continued investment in the country positions Vivo Energy Namibia as the first oil marketer to operate its own brand of LPG in the Namibian energy space, he said.
Nafidi highlighted that both Vivo Energy and GasIt’s parent company Triple J Energies have undertaken extensive planning and preparation to minimise any potential challenges, with existing contracts, agreements and pricing structures remaining unchanged.
"The acquisition of GasIt is a significant milestone for us as it enables us to enter the LPG market and deliver further value and convenience to our customers," Edward Walugembe, managing director of Vivo Energy Namibia, said.
New phase
Meanwhile, Triple J Energies managing director Jorge Machado said the company’s decision to reshape its portfolio is driven by a new phase of its development and evolving business priorities towards emerging markets.
“We believe Vivo Energy Namibia is best placed to take over and operate the GasIt business. We have taken all measures to ensure the change of control is seamless for all our local customers and suppliers.
“We wish to sincerely thank our partners in Namibia for their support over the last 11 years,” he said.
The company added that during the change of control, focus will be on ensuring smooth integration, with minimal disruption to existing customers.
