The Summit of the Future, scheduled for next Monday and Tuesday in New York City, will bring together leaders from approximately 193 United Nations (UN) member states. The event aims to accelerate progress toward existing international commitments while addressing emerging global challenges. The summit will be held under the theme 'Multilateral solutions for a better tomorrow'.

Through the Pact for the Future, it will provide a platform to chart a path for a more responsive and effective UN in addressing today's global challenges.

According to permanent representative of Namibia to the UN, Neville Gertze, the upcoming summit will allow world leaders to come together and reaffirm their commitment to the purposes and principles of the UN Charter. “With a focus on strengthening multilateralism, the summit seeks to enhance cooperation between nations and tackle critical issues such as climate change, technological advancement and socioeconomic inequalities," he said.

This year, the gathering will be co-chaired by President Nangolo Mbumba and chancellor of Germany, Olaf Scholz.
