Two NDF members injured in car accident
NEWS IN SHORT
Two members of the Namibian Defence Force (NDF) were hospitalised on Tuesday after the truck they were travelling in overturned on the Mpungu-Nepara gravel road in the Kavango West Region. Namibian Police Chief Inspector of the Kavango West Region Raimbert Muronga confirmed the incident, which happened around 20:30. According to Muronga, a licensed NDF member stationed at the Grootfontein Army Base was en route to the Nepara Army Base with a male colleague in a green chassis cab truck, a work vehicle, when the accident happened. Upon reaching Silikunga village, the driver lost control of the vehicle due to a wet and slippery road surface, causing the truck to overturn. “Both occupants sustained minor injuries, while the vehicle suffered significant damage. Fortunately, no casualties were reported,” Muronga said. The injured driver and passenger were treated on-site by medical personnel from Nkurenkuru ELCIN Hospital and are currently in stable condition.
