The Swakopmund municipality has donated N$160 000 to local schools. Sixteen schools have been identified as beneficiaries, with each receiving N$10 000 to address their specific needs.

Announcing the donation, Swakopmund mayor Dina Namubes highlighted the importance of collective responsibility in ensuring quality education for all. “The provision of quality education is not solely the responsibility of schools and teachers. It is a shared responsibility that involves parents, local leaders, and all of us who call this town our home,” she said.

The municipality has requested schools to provide detailed quotations of their specific needs to ensure the funds are used efficiently. The requested items include laptops, printers, projectors, binding machines, laminating machines, and other essential educational tools.

“Our hope is that these resources will play a key role in enhancing the learning environment, making it more conducive to both teaching and learning,” Namubes added.

The mayor also commended the dedication of educators, principals and parents in creating supportive environments for learners. “Your tireless efforts do not go unnoticed; let us continue working together to equip our youth with the tools and opportunities they need to reach their full potential,” she said.

The N$160 000 donation emphasises the municipality’s commitment to investing in education and empowering the next generation. Addressing the specific needs of schools, the initiative aims to ensure that learners in Swakopmund have access to better resources and opportunities, fostering a brighter future for the community.
