Stadio Namibia makes education dream come true
From stranded to hopeful
Stadio Namibia has granted a study bursary to Immanuel Veyele, providing him with an unexpected opportunity to pursue his higher education goals.
Distance learning institute Stadio Namibia has awarded a study bursary to Immanuel Veyele (22).
This follows a recent Namibian Sun article that reported on Veyele being stranded at home despite completing grade 11 with 30 points last year.
Having completed his secondary education at I.K. Tjimuhiva Combined School, Veyele will now pursue a higher certificate in the extended management programme offered by Stadio.
The programme allows students who have completed grade 11, with marks that do not meet the requirements to proceed to the advanced subsidiary level, to enrol in a higher education institution.
Meeting goals
According to Dr Albin Jacobs, head of campus at Stadio Namibia, the bursary was offered to Veyele because he perfectly aligns with the institution's objectives.
"Veyele is exactly the student that we are targeting. The chances of him going back to classes were slim, and that’s where we come in as a distance institution," he said.
Jacobs underlined that they are providing Veyele with an opportunity to pursue his studies in his current location, eliminating concerns about accommodation and transportation.
"We have students who have gone to master’s level through our programmes. A person like Veyele needed assistance. We also want to show others who can afford it that they do not have to stay at home."
Gratitude extended
Stadio Namibia provides scholarships on an annual basis with the objective of granting access to higher education to students in need.
In an interview with Namibian Sun, Veyele couldn't contain his excitement.
He expressed heartfelt gratitude towards Stadio Namibia for having offered him the opportunity to continue his studies.
"I am really grateful for this opportunity, and I will ensure that I complete this course," he said.
With Veyele's parents both unemployed, he said he is determined to make a positive impact in his village, lift his family out of poverty, and become a valuable member of his community.
"A lot of my peers are also at home due to financial constraints, so me getting this opportunity is a gift from God," Veyele said.
