Smit joins animal welfare body as ambassador
News in short
The Have-A-Heart Namibia welfare organisation has announced the appointment of award-winning singer Riaan Smit as its local ambassador.
The organisation provides free sterilisation, vaccination, and parasite treatment to dogs and cats from low- and no-income homes.
“Have-A-Heart Namibia has never been short of clients, but with Riaan by our side, we hope to raise even more awareness locally, as we always have room for another partner or two to help us reach new heights,” it said in a media statement.
“Over the past 11 years, we’ve made a significant impact, touching the lives of 21 800 dogs and cats as well as their owners. None of these pet owners will ever have to worry about the financial burden that comes with unwanted litters ever again. The animals that have been sterilised will also live longer and healthier lives."
“Not only is Riaan an exceptionally gifted musician with a charismatic voice, but he also has a big heart for animals,” the organisation noted.
