Redforce fills Katima’s coffers with millions

Katima Mulilo accounting officer Raphael Liswaniso has revealed that since they unleashed Redforce Debt Management on their defaulting clients, the previously cash-strapped town council’s revenue has shot up by 40%, putting it in a position to fast-track development.

Liswaniso said prior to Redforce’s arrival last year, the council would collect between N$6 million and N$7 million a month. However, its financial situation has since transformed, with N$10 million or more brought in by the debt collector every month.

He said the town council has managed to settle some of its debts that were a headache in the past, while it was able to buy new vehicles and service land for residents.

“We can commend Redforce and say there was an improvement of at least 40%,” Liswaniso said.

“Our revenue has improved. Few things such as NamWater [debt] has been taken off our books, and we can do some things. We have even bought new vehicles. They are all around town.

“We have been able to service some of our debts which we were unable to service in the past.”

Residents counselled

“The good thing about Redforce is that they do not only collect debt, but they also counsel the people," he said.

Liswaniso added that while there are people who try to take chances and default on their debts, they are being engaged to understand the importance of paying their bills.

Council turned to Redforce in order to recover debt of around N$115 million owed by residents.

At the time, Liswaniso revealed that only 3 000 of the 15 000 residents who are billed by the council for municipal services are in good standing, something he said had to rectified.

The contract between Redforce and Katima Mulilo is for a period of five years.
